GCFFY Welcomes new Fair Coordinator

Hello Fair Friends!

I wanted to introduce myself, Erin Humm, your new GCFFY Coordinator. I was born and raised in Gratiot County and have lived here my entire life. Igrew up showing at the GCFFY so some of you may recognize me. I live in Breckenridge with my family, my husband Olan, and four kids, Isaac, Aimon, Brinley and Maezee. My kids are now participants at the GCFFY and are always excited to spend a week of the summer at the fair with friends. I look forward to serving the youth here in Gratiot County in this new position. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at or by calling the fair office at 989-466-5071. My office hours are going to be sporadic at this time due to my kiddos having some virtual schooling Snow Days and half days. Most Tuesdays and Thursday you will find me in the office from 9am - 2:30 pm. However, I am checking the voice mail every couple of days and the email daily. Thanks for the warm welcome and I can’t wait to see all of you soon!

GCFFY Announces New FairEntry System

We are excited to tell you about our new online Fair Entry System. All animal pre-registrations, class registrations and still exhibits will utilize this new system. With FairEntry we can accomplish all kinds of new check-in proccesses, reporting, class splits, public results pages and buyers lists and reports from the auctions. We are extremely excited about what this is going to allow the Board and Superintendents to do with the click of a button before, during and after fair week. If you want to get a head start on your family's entry check it out at

A second piece to this entry system change is that we will be charging each exhibitor a $7.00 fee - this is PER exhibitor NOT per entry. If there are two children in exhibiting at the fair there will be a $14 charge, four kids $28. This fee will help to cover the cost of the new entry system and insurance.

Please make sure after you register your family that you only enter your exhibitors once. Once the exhibitor is in the system you can go back and add multiple entries for each exhibitor. You will not have to enter an exhibitor more than once. If you have difficulties please reference the video below or those on the FaceBook page.

**At this time we have NOT integrated our FairEntry program with 4-H Online so you will have to make a FairEntry Family login before you can enter exhibitors or entries.**

Tips for Exhibitors Making Online Entries:

  • Recommended browsers: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Older versions of Internet Explorer may cause unexpected behavior.

  • Register all entries for each exhibitor in the family before proceeding to the Payment section.

  • Be sure to click the “Submit” button when you have completed your entries. Entries are not final until they have been submitted.

  • Check your email inbox for a confirmation email with a list of your entries and any related fees.

  • You will receive a second email when your entries have been approved by your fair.

There are a few of ways to get your FairEntry questions answered. They have a terrific site full of videos to help explain how to register a family and make an entry. You can find one such video here Or you can check out their Help Desk site,

2021 Fair Dates - July 31 - August 7

The 2021 fair dates are Saturday, July 31 thru Saturday, August 7, 2021. We are planning to host a "normal" fair this year and hope to see many of our youth back this year for a great week. We are preparing for a fair without the partnership of 4-H at this time but as an exhibitor you won't see much of a change in your week. We have changed some wording and bits and pieces of the fair book so that if 4-H is not face-to-face yet we can proceed without issue. This will be a temporary change as we appreciate greatly the partnership we have with 4-H and MSU Extension. Look for more updates in the next couple of months.

2020-21 Annual Campaign

Funds have been coming in from our letters we sent in December. We updated our donation letters due to some event changes during the week of the fair. We are thankful for the support we have received already and look forward to more supporters in the next few months. Thank you to all of those who have already given! You are the reason that we can host such a spectacular week of the summer for our kids.

GCFFY Rule Changes and Additions

There are a couple of rule changes to our Fair this year. Please read them carefully to be in compliance for us to have a successful week.

If an animal will not be sold, it must be pulled out within 1 hour of the end of that species market classes and will be charged $250/animal cash or card before the animal leaves the grounds. The Grand and Reserve market animals MUST sell.

400 pounds will be the minimum weight for dairy feeder calves and the maximum weight will be 650 pounds, if over that weight the animal may be shown but will be sold to the buyer for the 650 pound weight. Animals less than 400 pounds will be sent home.

The minimum weight for market swine is 220 lbs. The maximum weight is 320 lbs. If the animal is above 320 lbs. it will be sold to the buyer at 320 lbs. If the animal is below 220 lbs. it will be sent home.

All Swine MUST have a USDA 840 tag and the GCFFY tag. (Please see the GCFFY website for further information.) 840 tags must be obtained by the exhibitor from the breeder they purchased the hog from.

Exhibitors or ring help are the only people allowed in the ring, if an animal is out of control it will be tied to the rail or will be excused.

New Website

Keep your eyes open for our new website that will implemented by the end of the month. We are excited for this new design and that it will be mobile friendly! The fair board is very excited about the prospect of a regular fair this year. The decision about changing directions due to restrictions will be made 30 days prior to the fair beginning. We are hoping that no changes will have to be made and that the kids will be able to show and participate in a "normal" week at the fair. Facebook, Instagram, GCCFY.Org and this newsletter will be the best places to see updated information. Until next month stay safe and warm out there!
